Our court-approved clinical evaluations, including mental health assessments, substance use assessments, bariatric evaluations, parenting assessments, gender-affirming assessments, and anger management evaluations, are pivotal in providing adequate and individualized treatment plans in mental health care.
These assessments serve as foundational tools, allowing clinicians to comprehensively assess an individual's psychological, emotional, and behavioral functioning and to provide recommendations for the outcomes.
Evaluations (Zoom) are available. Virtual evaluations are available by appointment only. The evaluation is a 45-60 minute consultation that determines if you need further treatment and, if you do, how much you need.
We evaluate personal history, work history, attitude, emotional stability, criminal history, and alcohol/drug use through personal interviews and assessment tools. Your counselor will discuss the evaluation results with you and, based on the findings, recommend a course of action.
Not every evaluation is the same, and prices vary depending on the evaluation. At Leading Light Mental Health Clinic Inc., we pride ourselves on the fact that we never recommend treatment to someone who does not need it. Our counselors have the most knowledge about our programs and use that knowledge to provide the proper intervention. Although you may not be happy about coming to our facility, we aim to help you before you leave.
The standard turn-around time for an evaluation is 3-5 business days; however, if you need the evaluation completed the same day or the next day, the evaluation is subject to a $50 rush fee. Except in exceptional cases, all clients should receive their treatment recommendation before leaving, and they should receive a receipt they can use to prove that they have completed the evaluation in lieu of the physical evaluation.
Please ensure you send us your photo ID and your probation officer, pretrial officer, or lawyer’s information so we can forward the evaluation to the people requiring it.
Evaluations Provided:
1. Mental Health Assessments: These evaluations are critical in identifying psychological disorders, determining their severity, and understanding the unique ways in which they manifest in individuals. They provide a structured approach to gathering information about a person’s emotional state, thought processes, and behavior. This is instrumental in developing a targeted treatment plan that addresses specific mental health needs, enhancing the efficacy of therapeutic interventions.
2. Substance Use Assessments: These assessments are essential for identifying the presence and extent of substance use disorders. They help in understanding the pattern of substance use, its impact on the individual’s life, and any co-occurring mental health conditions. This information is vital for creating a comprehensive treatment approach that may include detoxification, rehabilitation, and relapse prevention strategies tailored to the individual’s specific needs.
3. Bariatric Evaluations: Bariatric assessments are crucial for individuals seeking weight loss surgery in the pre-surgical process. These evaluations help determine psychological readiness and identify any psychological factors that might impact post-surgical outcomes. They ensure that individuals are mentally prepared for the lifestyle changes required post-surgery and can adhere to the necessary dietary and exercise recommendations.
4. Gender-Affirming Assessments: These assessments are vital in supporting individuals who are exploring or undergoing gender transition. They provide a safe space for individuals to discuss their gender identity, experiences of gender dysphoria, and their goals related to gender expression. These evaluations assist in determining the appropriateness of various gender-affirming interventions, such as hormone therapy or surgery, and support the individual’s overall mental health during their transition.
5. Parenting Assessments: A parenting assessment is a vital tool in the realm of mental health and social services, providing a comprehensive evaluation of a parent's abilities, strengths, and areas where support may be required. It is designed to understand the dynamics within a family and the parent's capacity to meet the child's developmental, emotional, and physical needs. The purpose of such assessments often extends to ensuring the child's safety and well-being in cases where there may be concerns about parental fitness, often in contexts of child welfare investigations or custody disputes.
6. Anger Management Evaluations: Anger Management evaluations are conducted by Certified Anger Management Specialists who understand the proper steps to avoid triggers and how to use coping mechanisms properly. Anger is a complex emotion to control, even in the best of circumstances. If you are required to complete an anger management evaluation, call us.
During the evaluation, we cover your family and abuse history, current and previous charges, demeanor, state and trait anger expression, and anger management skills.
